After some simple calibration mine has been good to me. I've had it for around 3 months now.

I used this monitor for about a week early this year and it was not a good experience. The one I had had awful gray smearing, which was very very noticeable while scrolling through any website that had a darkmode theme. I found that cranking the contrast and brightness helped, but it was still annoying enough that I returned the monitor.

Here is a quick video I shot while scrolling through Twitter;

How you see it in the video is pretty much how it looked to my eyes.

I don't see the issues that this user is talking about. Then again this is a "gaming monitor" and I use it for "gaming"

The HP X34 has been on sale at Best Buy for this price in the recent past. It's sort of a matter of preference for which is better, but I tried both and stuck with the HP.

Gigabyte Pros:
Curve (if you like that)
Inputs/Features
VA for richer contrast

Gigabyte Cons:
Ghosting and smearing in dark scenes
More prone to losing DP/HDMI link/black screening in my experience

HP Pros:
Flat (if you like that)
IPS with much better out of the box color and pixel response times

HP Cons:
Bare bones
Blacks look grey in a dark room

I kept the HP and think most people would be happier with it. If it goes on sale soon or if you find a refurb on eBay or from HP, it's a good buy too.

Bought this for about 300$ from Amazon earlier this year. There is some edge bleeding but otherwise a decent monitor. The stand is pretty short so you might have to get one of your own.

I had the DP/HDMI link/black screening on my Gigabyte 43" 4K monitor. It's beyond annoying and will never get a gigabyte lcd screen after this. I should have stuck with Asus or Samsung.

I agree, I got a great deal on one and loved the KVM feature, but the only way to get the screen to stop going black was to disable FreeSync, and my GPU couldn't always maintain 60+ in every game to where I could disable FreeSync and avoid tearing. It seems like Gigabyte cuts some corners other manufacturers don't.

I've had this (or a similar model) since 2020, has been great for both work and gaming. Originally bought from best buy, did have to return the first one for a dead pixel, but no issues at all since

VA Panels are known to have smearing. Its just a downside to the panel type. I recommend either IPS, TN or OLED.
