    It's not a monthly fee. You just buy the model WITHOUT LOCK SCREEN ADS. Right now it's $15 more on Amazon.

    Not that it helps you but for anyone else seeing this post, most will get the instant 20% off and the trade-in gift card value that you can apply instantly to the purchase of a new Fire tablet. I initiated an HD 8 trade in yesterday and I bought the HD 10 delivered this morning with the 20% off and the trade-in $25 gift card value. For anyone with a 2020 HD 8 who feels the performance is a bit janky, the regular HD 10 is approaching night and day better.

    Most kohls stuff is overpriced... Sometimes they have deals but kohls cash expires pretty fast from what I remember. Def not worth it unless you were planning on buying something else at Kohl's.

    I'm waiting for the $50 target deal. None of these $70-80 deals impress me.

    Reviews indicate that the lock screen displays ads constantly, which the only way to remove them is to pay a monthly fee. I don't currently have any amazon devices, but from reviews, it looks like that is the norm on these amazon tablets. Is that correct?

    I am looking for a tablet for kids to use and pass around (but not necessarily the 'baby/kid tablet' ones with blue or pink bumper/frame). So with this one I would have to pay monthly to NOT have my kids accidentally buy something from an ad or constantly ask me if they can download something because of the advertisements.

    Any input from users or suggestions for alternatives? Thanks.

    I don't have one myself, but the only difference is the Plus as an extra gig of RAM and it has wireless charging. Haven't seen a test to see if the extra Gig is worth the extra $30, but I had a previous Fire tablet and it had so much bloatware that I could see it making a difference.

    I have the previous generation Fire HD 10, and with trade-in, it looks like I could get the 2021 HD 10 for just $15 ($75 - $30 trade-in - $30 [20% off full price for trading in]). I was very tempted, but after watching some reviews comparing the 2019 and 2021 versions, it doesn't seem like there's much difference in terms of user experience--or at least not enough to bother upgrading.

    The thing in have a problem with is they won't insta give you the 20%. At least won't for me. Also look at the plus version seems much nicer than the normal.

    Wish they'd do it for me.. They are giving me the business about it. I tried to explain to the CS rep that amazon is literally the only company that does this. Just bill my credit card for the 20% if I don't send it. So frustrating since by the time they get it and inspect it the deal might already be over. I don't get it as I spend like hundreds with them literally every month and I rarely return things.
