I wouldn't expect this snow blower to last 10+ years if you get any appreciable amount of snow. But I anticipate getting 5-10 years out of it with minor tinkering.
That being said, I think it can still be a good deal for certain people. No issues with the engine, gearbox, auger, etc. I did have to do some minor tensioning adjustment on the chute rotation to make it spin more easily. Also, it does not have an engine air filter.

You mean these people trying to sell used snow blowers for $150 less than if I bought the same one new which includes a warranty?...

This is one of those things I'd rather spend more money upfront for less grief now and in the future ( Ariens, Toro, etc). Last thing you want is a foot of heavy snow and your snowblower isn't working.
I recommend putting fuel stabilizer ( stabil, etc) in the gas you use in snowblowers to keep the carb from gumming up. Been doing so for at least 15 years and it always starts up on first pull. Has electric start but I don't even bother with it.
