Good find, OP! This is a great deal! We've had 2 of these, and both broke in less than a year. So I would definitely recommend buying the extended warranty. We loved them though while they worked!

So now we're trying to figure out if we pick up the Ninja duo brew or this....

My wife showed me the Ninja for $100 a couple weeks ago and I thought, we don't need this and I'm not spending $100 on a coffee brewer. Now seeing this for $85, it's more tempting. How did yours break?

Yeah, the water pump stopped working, so both the k-cup and carafe stopped working.

Can these use any K-Cups?

I'm asking because I know there are some that scan the cups and make sure they're a specific brand. I'm not sure if that's still a thing or if they did away with that anti-competition practice

Yup, we never had a problem with any brands. We used Kirkland, Amazon Solimo, Pete's, San Francisco Bay, and a few others.

Honestly, the only memorable downside was that you could only program a time for the carafe, not the k-cup.

My wife got this machine and I don't like it. It works well enough for what it's supposed to do, but it lacks the ability to make a pot of coffee smaller than 6 cups. I get that this is coming from the K-cup company and they don't want you to not use K-cups, but there's been plenty of times when I would like to make 2-4 cups of coffee where I can control the mixture/strength.

If my gripe won't be an issue for you, then this machine might be great for you. If you just want a coffee pot a few times a year, then you're probably better off buying a cheap one to go with a standalone k-cup machine.

I've had this coffee maker for a couple of years now. Overall, it's been solid and I'm glad to have it.

Pros:
Making drip and K Cups in one unit is pretty awesome
It's been reliable
Has the 'strong' setting for k-cups which I like
No problem using any k-cup I've bought (not restricted to any specific brand) NOTE: that may have changed over the years, but true for mine
No scaling, but I always use fridge-filtered water, you should too if you have that option.

Cons:
THAT MOTHER F'ING CARAFE SPILLS WHEN YOU POUR!!! Seriously, look at any of the reviews on amazon. I had them ship me a 'revised' carafe. Still sucks.
I don't think it brews with hot enough water

If mine broke today, I'd purchase another one.

Yeah, this doesn't seem like a "great deal" from someone that has two break within a year.
