$18.66 @ Walmart
$44.51 @ Amazon

Another example of bait-and-switch with Amazon intentionally spiking their prices immediately after cutting them. Amazon does this ALL THE TIME now to try to trick people into following links like this and one-click ordering without paying attention to the price.

It is dynamic pricing and without it, there would be no deals. Also with the increase of popularity of SD in the last few years, more people flood these deals until it is exhausted and the window of time to get the deal gets shorter. This has been dubbed the "slickdeals effect".

Oh? Been a while since I've seen a digital CO detector. I've been using the plain models by Kiddie for years.

Nah, it's not just that.

When discounts were exhausted on Amazon the prices used to just go back to normal retail OR the item would be sold out for a while. Now when items suddenly get a lot of traffic because of a discount Amazon's algorithm massively spikes the price to double the normal retail (which is where it's at now) in the hopes that they'll sucker people into buying at an absurdly high price.

It's gross, predatory behavior on their part because Amazon is focused solely on sales/revenue and no longer gives a shit about the consumer or the consumer experience. It's bad enough now that I get better customer service from Walmart than I do from Amazon and Walmart's customer service is pretty terrible.
