Tech on Tech via Amazon has the Seagate 16TB HDD Exos X16 7200 RPM 512e/4Kn SATA 6Gb/s 256MB Cache 3.5-Inch Enterprise Hard Drive (ST16000NM001G) (Renewed) sold for $175 shipped via Prime.

Yes, these are renewed and from third party. But at $175 per 16TB I think is the lowest I've seen in the last couple of years.

Some stats on the only seller that has it at this price shipped Prime (I am not affiliated with this seller in any way, shape or form):
  • Ships from: Amazon.com

At this price, buy two and run Seatools on them, then load them into your RAID setup. If you're not happy with the Seatools results, just send it back Smilie

Actually I got 4 to load into my QNAP RAID. Shipped via Prime so super easy to return if any tests fail.

They may as well have a remaining warranty on them, depending on the age. I will check once I get them.

Out of curiosity checked the warranty on couple other drives I purchased in Renewed condition - all were still covered, until 2026 or 2024. Will see.

ServerPartDeals has the same drive for $179.99 (Manuf recertified) with a 2 year seller warranty. May be a better option for some wanting warranty.

Did I hear prices might drop next year due to ssd prices becoming a lot more competitive?

There are vendors with better warranty for recertified HD.

I wonder if there will be any problems with Seagate honoring the warranty (if even needed). Still a good price though.

Can't answer this as I have no experience claiming it. Though there could be warranty issues when you are removing the hard drive out of External USB drives as well.

Beyond the more obvious factors of supply chain disruptions, market destabilizations, etc.; newer tech upgrading current NVME is also in question, so hedging your bets on more affordable SATA SSD's might be subject to these same conditions.

I still have a couple of Seagate Barracuda's at 7,200rpm that perform flawlessly; so if you do decide to bite on a deal like this, look for a decent return/warranty policy.

It says a 2 year warranty for the 14TB. However, I don't see that for the 16TB
