No. It's just fancy language mean to convey that it's better than the standard controller. I've been keeping an eye out and this is the best price by far so I finally pulled the trigger and going to get a ext warranty from Microsoft.
The Elite controllers have been notorious for having hardware issues. Microsoft has shied away from discussing them. But in a recent reveal for the Core version of this controller they made comments that sounded like they fixed some of the previous issues. The verdict is still out for whether they did improve the internals or not. But this "re-engineered" detail may be in reference to them fixing past issues.

FYI, I personally only know one other person who has used Elite controllers. Both of us have had multiple issues, and with multiple controllers. Not only did Microsoft extend the warranty on my controller and repair it once for free, I also go a free controller as part of a class action lawsuit. The controller Microsoft repaired still has some issues. The one I got from the lawsuit seems problem free so far.
I'll grab one of these when they hit $99 or less.

"Re-engineered Components"? Is that another term for refurbished? Is it new or not?

Ok, Thanks. I was worried because this is a type of item that I wouldn't recommend people buy refurbished. I have also been waiting quite a while for this controller to get on sale. I recently switched to controller from M&K while playing COD MW2 because of how overpowered aim assist is in this game. But unfortunately, jumping around the corners using a regular controller with no back paddles has been challenging for me. Thanks OP

If you have never had one of these they are great. Yes, you will read about all the flaws and problems they develop but get an additional warranty or utilize the manufacture warranty.

This controller has amazing features but is extremely poorly made. I'm on my 3rd one since release and can't exchange it anymore even though the same issues keep happening. Right bumper double taps, the trigger adjustment slider breaks, the rubber is coming off. Its a very poorly made product that doesn't deserve the price tag even with the useful features.

I'd buy one of these if I could use it on my ps5. I don't play with controller on PC almost ever but I do love the feeling of this thing. :/

I tried 3 elite 2 controllers in an effort to replace my elite 1st gen controller. 2 from amazon and 1 straight from microsoft. They all had problems and they were all returned. When the A button isn't reliable, the controller is 100% useless.

I have completely lost faith in Microsoft with the elite 2 controller... Maybe this reengineered wording means its been improved like you said, but unless they flat out say "HEY WE FIXED ALL THE PROBLEMS!" I'm not going to try it.

I am hoping they fix their problems for the elite 3. Meanwhile I'm still using my elite 1 and taking it apart every couple months to replace the parts that fail. It's annoying but it's the best controller I've ever used so it's worth the effort.

So IMO to anyone who looks at this and thinks its a good deal... Don't get your hopes up and make sure you can do free returns for opened/defective products. If it's a gift, TEST IT YOURSELF!

Honestly this product was so bad Amazon stopped selling it for a while.
