They're good enough. The lifetime warranty is legit, I've gotten several cables replaced completely for free, and half of them I didn't even need to send the old ones back.
Usually I'd say they're too expensive for the quality, but this is a great deal

Are ankers really good? Reason I ask is there are 6 packs of cables all over Amazon in the 10$ range. Some are junk, but if one uses a fake review filter you can get some good quality cables for much less than this. Or go with monoprice?

Do they request you send it back sometimes? Even monoprice doesn't do that.

No. They don't ask for it back
If you claim the same cable though multiple times, they may ask for it back since they may think you're just trying to get free cables. But generally, no they won't ask for it back

They asked me to send a cable back a few times, yes. They sent me a prepaid shipping label, and shipped the replacement as soon as the return was dropped off. They said they wanted it "so their engineers can inspect it to figure out what went wrong". This was for a Powerline II 3in1 cable.
Monoprice doesn't ask for the cables back because their strategy for life time warranty replacements is they make the cables so cheap that they can give you 3 of them for the price you paid and still make money. Don't get me wrong, I have more Monoprice cables than Anker. But it's not because theirs are better quality.
I can also attest that they stand by their lifetime warranty, I didn't even have to pay for shipping.
The quality of some of their cables, possibly including this one, isn't the most durable or premium, but I still buy them because they stand by their warranty.
Be aware though, some of their cables have the 18 month warranty instead!
There was one time they asked me to send a cable back, but I didn't have it for whatever reason and they were okay with it, still sent me another cable, was actually a better model than the one I received. I've never abused the policy, though, so not sure how common that treatment is.

EU is forcing Apple to switch to all USB-C by 2024 and presumably US devices will also go with USB-C. So these will only be good for previous gen stuff in a few years.
I snagged the 3 pack of these back in October when it was a lightning deal for $24. Let me tell you these Anker Powerline II cables are beefy boys! Thickest lightning cables I own so they're a quite stiff but really good quality. Again can't beat the lifetime warranty.
Just to point out I did a bit of research and found Powerline branded line are the non braided cables and the Powerline+ are the nylon braided line. And the numbers just denote the latest version while also determining thickness and bend lifespan. So Powerline+ III are the slimmest and newest braided cables in the line. Took me a while to figure out because Anker doesn't really make it easy to find what their latest and greatest product is.
