Went with 18TB instead.

14TB is $230 - 11% = $205 = $14.50/TB
16TB is $250 - 11% = $223 = $13.90/TB
18TB is $285 - 11% = $253 = $14/TB
20TB is $329 - 11% = $293 = $14.65/TB

18TB stood out to me as the best value, a bit less value/$ than 16TB, but a small tradeoff for 12.5% more capacity in the same form factor.

Coupon 'Zip11' works for me at checkout, so indeed $293. Best price ever for a 20TB if I'm not mistaken.

Is there a reason this code may not work ? If not, what about putting the deal price at $293 instead of $330 ?

"Zip11" code also works on 12Tb WD CMR drive, slashing the price down to $169.

P.S. you actually have to use ZIP payment system to pay, instead of CC or Paypal, in order to use this code

It's a sitewide discount [newegg.com] so it's not really fair to count it in the item price.

Might want to add that the max is 2 drives and this code is only eligible when you check out with Zip Pay under BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later). Would much rather pay via PayPal to stack on Chase on top of Rktn, but them's the breaks!

Is this CMR or SMR? I saw Linus have some video on it recently discussing 20 TB hard drives?
p.s. I just checked youtube to find the video.

Why you DON'T want a 20TB Hard Drive

I checked when the video was made and it was 2 years ago. Maybe this has been "fixed" in 2 years. I don't know.

It's probably fine. These aren't SMR drives, they're CMR. And with two (more) years of manufacturing efficiencies and know-how, I'm sure they're fine.

Noob question

Is this something to consider SOLELY for the purpose of storing lots of video that I stream via USB to the TV?

I have 6 separate external HDD's now, looking to condense the collection

Absolutely, yes. But you might find an external drive cheaper (or cheaper per terabyte, at least), and it will already have a USB interface.
