Just recently, EBAY added GOOGLE PAY to their payment options.

Use your Discover card linked to GOOGLE PAY to earn 5% cb when you check out on EBay with GP and charge it to Discover thru google pay.

Be sure you have the quarterly bonus activated (up to a $75 CB max on Discover ($1500 in purchs)

ends 12/31 www.ebay.com

This is nothing different than the quarterly 5% calendar for all digital wallets for Discover. You do not need to use Google Pay to get the 5%. It's been available since Oct 1 for PayPal, etc.

Edit: This is not correct because I got mixed up with Chase Freedom, as the 13yo OP kindly suggests below.

This is useful because 5% category on Chase freedom has a limit of $1,500 spent. You can get more 5% back now with Google pay option.

Oh, I'm so sorry, that is a wrong answer. What parting gifts do we have for our contestant Johnny Gilbert?

DISCOVER T&C Digital Wallet purchases include those made online and in-store with your smartphone, tablet, or wearable. Wallets that qualify include Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Garmin Pay.

paypal does NOT qualify.

YMMV. I wasn't getting the 5% and spoke to 3 different Discover reps (2 were supervisors). According to them, using Google Pay on Ebay (and selecting Discover as the payment method) will NOT trigger the 5%. They're right; it didn't. It has something to do with how Ebay codes the transactions, when using Google Pay, Ebay somehow charges the CC directly and "sees through" Google Pay, even when using a virtual card number. So beware that, in my experience, you will not get the bonus.

If anyone has found differently, let me know and how you did it.

Same thing happened to me. I was told I needed to call and ask every retailer how they code for GP. I laughed and hung up.
