Unfortunately, Amazon's using MEAT BY-PRODUCTS in all of the varieties, for those who wish to avoid it.

I like to buy some discounted cat food during Black Friday sales to donate to my local rescue. I didn't think I was going to find any priced decently this year. Thanks!

Regular old Friskies at walmart is cheaper by the ounce.

Garbage: Meat-by-products. Formerly unknown living things.

If this was rated on catfooddb.com, it would be listed as below average, or significantly so.

It usually is but with all of the coupons and S&S discount this was a bit cheaper per ounce than the Friskies pate. It also has slightly better ingredients. Not the best deal in the world but I was happy to find it.

May I ask for somewhere to read about the issues with meat by-products? Googling it, many vets say it's fine generally as long as it isn't the first ingredient. Here, it's not.

CatFoodDB is not run by any qualified personnel. Much like DogFoodAdvisor, it is not consistent or accurate, and is not run by anyone with vet or vet nutritionist credentials. And unfortunately, it's quite clear that these sites are not thoroughly trained on what is or isn't a concern according to vets. CatFoodDB miscalculates many nutrition values and is inconsistent about rankings.

Some vets have said CatInfo.org is more reasonable - it is run by an actual vet.

Most vets have been assimilated by the pet food industry knowingly or not. Many, like those at Banfield, are directly employed by it, so push its unhealthy crap: bought and paid for.

The vast majority only got a cursory course in pet nutrition.

Oh, and the site you cite has essentially been abandoned: no updates since 2016.

And? I'd rather trust a veterinary professional over a random person who is unqualified to give advice.

That's poor reasoning to forgo the best advisors and professionals we can access, to instead consult fully unqualified persons who chose to post online. It's fine if you need second opinions, but at a certain point it is just conspiratorial to distrust any vet nutritionists who have formulation science backgrounds and speak extensively about the safety and health standards of their field.

So, you're actually defending this deal of food with by-products. LMAOLMAORoll Eyes (Sarcastic)
