Not bad. Reading up on max q, I see it's for thinner laptops and thus less power dissipation and then less performance. :-( Maybe someone else with better knowledge can chime in.

I'm leaning more towards the 2022 model with i7 12th gen, ddr5, 1200p screen but it's $200 more

this laptop is pretty good. I have this one with less storage, it runs games really well, and it never thermal throttles, which is surprising given how thin it is.

because it uses Max - Q 3060 which has less performance than the non Max Q version. With Slim 7 , you sacrifice power for for slimness.

HOWEVER, this is still a "Slim 7" and not a "Slim 7 Pro" that has a much better screen

dude why would you pick a 12th gen i7 when it runs hot. The Ryzen produces just as good performance relatively, while running much cooler. Afterall in a laptop, you want it to last low and this means low heat production. Stick with Ryzen!

Yikes!
By the way, the Lenovo site is overprices. There are usually a whole bunch of coupons including $100 of $1500, discount for students, teachers, military, etc., 15% cash back by clicking through various sites including one that begins with R and ends with ten.

There is no Legion Slim 7 Pro, although there is a Lenovo Slim 7 Pro. That one is less oriented to gaming. Also, when on performance mode, I do not notice much of a difference compared to a regular laptop 3060, as all laptop 3060's run 6GB of VRAM compared to the desktop versions. I don't even know if it is Max-Q, because not even Lenovo's own website says it is Max-Q. Only Amazon mentions this, and my laptop describes it as "Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU" instead of "Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 Max-Q GPU". I have this exact laptop so I'm guessing it's a full laptop 3060, but likely limited by wattage in regular modes. In performance, it boosts to what I think is a laptop 3060s full potential.
