I've been using one of these for awhile and it's awesome. If you think you have a use for it I definitely recommend giving it a shot. The only downside is that the buttons on the sheath suck and one that keeps the strap fastened failed very quickly.

Per camelcamelcamel it's been hovering at $32-35 so this looks like a decent price.

I have a fireplace and we have wood delivered. Can someone tell me what I would need to just split some of the larger pieces ?

Would this be the ideal tool? I don't think I'd need a wedge or longer handle, but wondering what would be my best tool (this seems to fit the bill)

Great product and lowest price all time on CCC, but it's $5 (15%) off the average. Wish it was more of a no brainer. Thanks for posting.

Best tool is renting a log splitter at Home Depot or elsewhere. It's a machine that is gas powered with a rubber tip which psi splits wood (watch your fingers).

Normal price recently is $34.98 for reference. It was $28.21 prior to the rapid inflation.

In my opinion, this is what this was designed for. The two use cases I can think of are exactly what you mentioned, and then perhaps camping (although a standard hatchet is probably more useful most of the time).

P.S. Try out Keepa. CCC is dying. The product updates come in so slowly that you are probably missing deals.

I have a hatchet I use, will this make much of a difference for kindling and such?
