serious question, for those that upgrade their premium TV every 2 to 3 years, what do you do with the old one? at some point you've got to run out of rooms that will take a tv.

Less-than-serious answer: Buy a bigger house with more rooms so that you can buy more & bigger & morebiggerer premium TV's!

I first ask friends or family if they need a TV. If no takers, i put it in the basement until our annual local recycling event. A lot of people have the same idea and if I don't arrive early I'm stuck with it another year.

You could do what I do with all functioning (and some non-functioning) appliances that I no longer need - put it outside on the curb next to your trash can. In my neighborhood they typically last only a few hours. I feel good about it too, since someone decided they could use it, rather than it being thrown away. Proper recycling. :-)
The problem with tvs is their value drops to almost nothing after 2 or 3 years. Also, they've become so large that they're tough to move around and won't fit in most cars.

The auto-dimming is annoying me when using my PC.
