This price is for the 256gb model not 512gb.

I think it starts at 599 but maybe the student price is 500. No reason to buy a m1 now in my opinion...maybe if they were 300...

You're right. I did see $500 but I was logged in to my education account. But yes, with what's out and the age of these, I'd hold off.

I see people discussing M1 vs M2 with 256gb and M1 has double the write speed due to 2 128gb hard disks. Still we have to wait the comparison once M2 mac mini is out

You'd have to be braindead to buy an M1 at the same pricepoint even if the write speeds were half.

I mean... unless your primary concern is the least power usage possible. M1 wins on that. It's a small amount of wattage difference, but a decently large percentage difference

That's not factually correct. On idle, the M2 actually beats the M1. It's true that for max power M2 (especially the pro) takes more wattage but who runs the computer at 100% 24/7?

I mean, everything I've read says it is... https://www.notebookcheck.net/App...834.0.html

Do you have a source? That would be awesome and get me off the fence!

Even if M1 does win in that. I don't think that's enough reason to her M1 at the same price point.

I personally don't mind the extra few watts, but if you're on the go and powered off a cell phone battery pack, you might! Was just throwing more info in here.
