You can certainly map the paddles ("flippers") to whatever buttons you want using the configuration app in settings. And you can do a lot more. It is a great controller if you understand how to actually use it, and it is worth the price.

You can map them differently thru the PC app. Can also do a bunch of other adjustments to stick response and tighten or losses the sticks.

Great controller, but important to know this one doesn't come with paddles or extra thumbsticks. Those have to be purchased separately.

The back paddles are fully remappable. You can do that in the Xbox accessory app.
