Your assertion that canning can preserve something for years isn't relevant as they are talking about the fate of the preserves after opening. Natural preserves with high sugar content will still last a while, but foods with added salt and sugar will last longer. None of that is an endorsement of sugar added preserves, but those are the facts.

You're too hyperbolic. There is truth in the statement that sugar is a preservative. Salt is too. The dissolved solute in the surrounding liquid creates a hyperosmotic environment around bacterial cells. This causes water to flow out of the bacteria into the surrounding environment causing crenation (shriveling) of the bacteria.

Coupon still available. But many coupons are 1 time use and it's the same coupon for multiple items. You could cancel the one and remake for the other if you prefer another flavor instead though
