Newegg is again offering the MSI Summit E13FlipEvo (Model A11MT-235) for $599 (60% off). This is the white and silver model (not black). It's not the i7 model that Costco had for $799, but this seems like a pretty good deal and was recently a Front Page deal.

Whatever is so bad about this deal? I don't understand why is it getting downvoted.

Specs looks good but build quality seems suspect with reviews mentioning chassis flex.

This seems to be the previous generation compared to the Costco model. 11th gen intel vs 12th gen intel. Also, the newer version (Costco) has an HDMI jack while this has a non-TB usb-c on the right panel (2 TB usb-c on the left).

Not sure if this is accurate or not, but the review I read of this older version stated the chassis is made of aluminum while a review of the newer version said it's made of plastic. Sometimes people can mistaken aluminum for plastic and vice versa so not sure which to believe. Would be strange for MSI to go from aluminum to plastic.

I purchased a laptop over BF, granted that was when they were running their extended return policy, but I did not like the laptop and was not impressed at all considering what I paid. I requested a return and told them it would hurt my head when I would use it for more than an hour (technically this was true), they gladly went through with the return and said the unit "may be defective." May have just gotten a good customer service rep but they gave me a code, no return shipping or restocking fee, money was back in my account within 6 business days of giving it to UPS because of the holidays.

Since this was done over the extended return period I cannot guarantee the same would apply now.

I currently have that laptop (for about 2 weeks now), at that price. I'll be returning it as well (free 30-day returns). Biggest issues: start-up is slow (and that's compared to an older laptop with worse specs), hinge is absolutely horrible as it wobbles and won't stay, pen consistency is non-existent, and fan randomly gets loud for no reason after minimal use.

Hope that helps...

Oh, and the volume on this is terrible. I've played around with all the volume options, and it still doesn't get that loud. I haven't tried it with headphones, so the jury is out on that part.

is there a lot of body or lid flex? Does the screen fall back easily (unintentionally) or if you pick it up while open?

I'd say it's more lid flex. It unintentionally and unpredictably moves (albeit, not drastically), but that's just within 2 weeks of owning it. It doesn't move all the time, but if it's on your lap and you reposition yourself, it'll move about 1/4 inch. When you try to reposition, the lid has quite a bit of flex. It may be the one I got, but sounds like it's a common issue. I can't imagine what it'd be like a year or two from now.

This uses the older 11th gen Intel processor, which is noticeably worse and less efficient than the newer 12th gen Intel processors.

Magnesium chassis are often mistaken for plastic.

Yes I was thinking that. I have an LG Gram so I know first hand. But I don't think MSI is claiming this is magnesium alloy, is it?

The best I can figure is it's CNC aluminum https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/msi...3-flip-evo

This review says the bottom panel is plastic.
