Metro by T-Mobile: 64GB Samsung Galaxy A23 5G Smartphone + 30 Days of Service $40 (Port In) or $90 (No Port In)

Metro by T-Mobile: 64GB Samsung Galaxy A23 5G Smartphone + 30 Days of Service $40 (Port In) or $90 (No Port In). Not as good as the previous offer ($50, no port in required), but better than it's been the last three weeks. Works with the $40 plan now.

Decent phone, especially for a backup. Better than the A14 in my opinion, comparable to the Moto G Stylus 2022, just depends on preference.

YMMV, my store experiences were generally fine. Worst part about them was the fact that I was porting out of Boost and it was a PITA, but it was not Metro's fault.

Not necessarily for some. Some are lucky to have major stores within walk-in distance. For me it is 5 miles. YMMV.

What was the issue with porting out of boost? I am porting from TMo Acct1 to Boost (ATT) and then port back to TMo Acct2 in a few days. Do u see any issue with porting? I don't need hassle. Thanks a lot.

Every time I went to the Metro store with all the necessary Boost info (account number and port out pin) I had to call Boost from the store once the port request was initiated to get it manually approved by someone in Boost. Between hold times and bouncing around between agents sometimes it took over 30 mins.

Thanks. That's a bummer. Maybe I will go Visible route. At least there is no headache with porting out and u have all the info in the account page. Thanks.

Any other carrier u can port out to from TMo and that doesn't give any headache porting out again? Thanks a lot. Repped.

I bought this. Yes porting in the number at Metro was a pain and took over 30 minutes, but it got done. Yes the sales people pushed the insurance and tried to up sell, but they are on a commission, so its like buying a car, just say no. Otherwise it seems like a solid deal, especially if you need a phone now, which I did.

Went to the store today
Activation in store requires $20 fee
And the cheapest plan they offer for this promotion is $60.
So you're looking at $80 with port in and not $40 as op states

Might as well just get it online for $90 ($50+$40 plan) since in store will sneak in another $10 for insurance with/without you knowing/consenting. Save yourself the aggravation.

If I pay the $90 online, can I just pop in an existing T-Mobile plan SIM and be good to go? Do I need to use the Metro SIM and plan?

From other Metro threads, no. 181 days to unlock regardless. From personal experience, the only phone I've found to work with T-Mobile SIM on day one is Oneplus N200 5G. That specific phone still comes SIM locked to Metro, but for one reason or another, you can use your T-Mobile SIM with it right away.

A23 is free again when you sign up for the $50 per month plan. No port in needed.
