2 dog household with a largely dirt backyard (thanks to those 2 dogs) and an open dog door. I went through several mop options and settled on this. BUT you must clean it thoroughly every time.

Here's the whole routine, which takes about 3 minutes if you are used to doing it.
1. Place vacuum in the sink.
2. Remove dirty water reservoir, empty and rinse both pieces (the top has a filter that I rinse).
3. Remove Roller Cover, rinse (especially the rubber "scraper" piece that goes on the floor when everything is assembled.
4. Remove roller. Rinse.
5. Rinse area around the roller. Another rubber strip here gets dirty.
6. Pour water down "tube" that goes from the dirty water reservoir to the roller area. I always get a small clump of dog hair wash out from here.
7. Re-assemble.
Like I said, this all takes 3 minutes, but the whole vacuum is clean then. I know that the next time I take it out that it's going to work at 100%. I'll bet you could get away with only doing this every 3 times or so that you use it, maybe more depending on how dirty your floors are. My dogs are a combined pair of 170lbs dirt monsters. Seriously, the Mastiff has been known to bring tree-sized branches in through the dog door and chew them in the hallway. I have no idea how he manages to defy the laws of physics to get them in through the door, nor am I sure how my back yard still has dirt in it because I would have thought they had already brought all of it inside the house.
My point was not to discourage anyone with the cleaning routine I do with this thing. Even with me cleaning it thoroughly each time, it's cleans MUCH better and quicker than any mop and bucket system.
