I thought the same at first but bought this for about $30 more back in December and don't regret it. If you already have Ubiquiti I would agree. But I needed something with 2.5 or faster in for my ISP and 2.5 or 10G out. For Ubiquiti I was looking at the dream machine pro se for $499 for a 2.5base-t port plus at least another $100 or more for wifi 6. This router provided a 10G Base-T and 10G SFP+ port. So 2.5G in the Base-T and SFP+ to a 10G or 2.5G switch. Also love the WAN failover option since I work from home and have T-Mobile Home Internet as a backup. Also great wifi 6 as a bonus. Hard to match for the money. Fan can be annoying though.

next gen is wifi7. And we are one month away from it. Eg. BE900. Otherwise why do you think this is being discounted?

When you say "it has a fan" what has a fan? And what's wrong with fans?

They are noisy, prone to breakage, draw extra power and accumulate dust. Passive cooling is much better.

That's still expensive... No wifi 6E.. won't be better off with a old pc with pfsense, couple of 2.5G wan and lan ports and a couple of wifi 6E access points within this price a better choice ?

At first I was excited to see this deal because it is 33% off. After reading reviews about the internal fan noise and heat issues. I decided not to buy it.

The newer revision b2 fixed this. At launch the soc is ipq8074. Newer ones comes with ipq8074A which should support all wifi 6: IPQ8074A compared with IPQ8074, IPQ8074A has added the MU-MIMO Uplink, OFDMA-UL, MU-RTS (Multi-User Request To Send), Preamble Finally, Spatial Reuse (OBSS PD).

Because Ubiquiti price for price cant make a comparable setup, LOL. This thing over wireless can transmit around 1.4Gbps making it one of the fastest routers with compatible clients for heavy wireless usage. The Ubiquiti AP's cant even go over 1Gbps their pro model U6 model tops out at 950Mbps on a good day, so pretty big difference when it costs around $160 just for an AP by itself.....

Then when you take range into account this AX89X kills Ubiquiti and all their AP's which are known for lackluster range. So you would in most cases need 2 of the U2 Pro models for similar coverage to the stand alone router.

Then you have to add in the extra minimum $200 for a cloudkey, dream router, or UDM. Then have to do all the wiring for AP's...

Yeah that faster Asus router with better coverage looking better and better at just $300.

Its cool to provide your insight into things, but if you dont keep up with a product development, providing OLD info is annoying. This router has had multiple hardware revisions which fixed all the problems of the V1.... So looking at old reviews does not apply to the newer hardware.

This router even without 6E is still one of the top 5 fastest routers in the market and probably will continue to be till wifi 7 actually launches and gets its bugs worked out. A lot fo wifi 6E gear is not faster than this router.
