For the price they are worth it. I added a few L Brackets to increase stability. Also had a large piece of thin wood backer that I cut to size and used that instead of the ones that come with it. It is super sturdy and I think I can get five years out of them. The material around it not so sure but easily removed and painted with better tape. Yes you could just buy a better model but I didnt change everything at once. Little by little and ans now my wife and I love them. She hated them at first because they felt cheap. Much better now and minimal effort to make xpectedly long lasting night stands. I hope this helps others.
As a side note: I had all the parts already except the paint which I costed with a clear coat for durability. I used an inclusive primer/paint. Also, I replaced the USB ports with a better model that includes one standard plug and 2 USB Ports. Best idea ever. Use constantly with no problems. A rotary tool works best for easy straight cuts. Sorry for the book I wrote just wanted to be comprehensive.
