Good for upgrading your cheap a$$ relative's old laptop or desktop. Never know what you might find in their old computers... I found a 4200rpm laptop hard drive in a desktop once... No wonder it was so slow.

To paraphrase The Black Adder:

E: You have beautiful and valuable data, sir.

H: Indeed I do. I love it more than any pig, and that's saying summat!

E: It certainly is.

H: And let me tell you, I'd no more place it on a Brand X SSD than I'd place my John Thomas in the hands of a lunatic with a pair of scissors.

Question. I have corrupted OS in my laptop ssd drive. Is there a connector I can buy to attach it to my desktop so I can pull the data off of it before I reformat the drive and reinstall the OS? I was thinking of buying another ssd to install OS and just use the other drive as data drive which is why I was looking at this thread. What I really need is a connector for the ssd drive, the strand thing is that my drive looks like a memory stick. Thanks
Yes, you can purchase an external USB to SATA adapter or a SATA to USB enclosure to connect your laptop SSD to your desktop computer. These devices allow you to connect your SSD to your desktop's USB port and access the data on it as if it were a regular external hard drive.

When purchasing a USB to SATA adapter or SATA to USB enclosure, make sure it is compatible with the type of SSD you have (e.g. SATA or M.2) and that it supports the transfer speed of your SSD.

Once you have connected the SSD to your desktop, you can transfer the data to another storage device before reformatting the SSD and reinstalling the OS.

So I'm thinking you just need an external enclosure for the purpose you are describing. Firstly you will need to identify if your drive is a SATA or NVME as not every enclosure supports both. But based on your comment about it looking like a memory stick, i think it's safe to say it's a M.2 interface. Linking below and example of one that could work for you provided your drive is a SATA

M.2 SATA SSD to USB 3.0 External SSD Reader Converter Adapter Enclosure with UASP, Support NGFF M.2 2280 2260 2242 2230 SSD with Key B/Key B+M(Can't Fit for PCIe NVMe/PCIe AHCI with Key M) https://a.co/d/9wJv1UA
