At this price it's a better value to buy this kit over sponges by themselves.

Aerogarden is having a 50% Off Accessories & Seed Pod Kits sale also but it's a $50 minimum for free shipping. Maybe a better deal can be had with a discount code?

Seed Starting System for 2019 Bounty Models
$17.47

https://aerogarden.com/accessorie...-0100.html

Also the 1 Liter nutrient bottle (just happens to be the same price as the other)
$17.47

https://aerogarden.com/accessorie...-0000.html

Otherwise this is a solid deal on Amazon.

I have the Bounty Elite, so it's tempting., but I can't think of a use case. This is my first year starting seeds with soil blocks, and it's been wildly successful so far.

How so? It shows the tray, sponges, fertilizer, and guide...which are exactly what comes with the purchase.

I used to buy those ferry morse things for seed starters, but now I just use some potting soil, egg cartons, and plastic wrap. Cheaper and just as effective.

I mean, plants (and seeds) will try to grow in almost anything. A bit of nutrition, water, sun, and bam they grow. Of course, I used to consistently kill cacti, but I'm much better at growing stuff now!

Those seed starter kits are just for the convenience/ability to keep it neat. No soil, those pods can be used inside without making any kind of mess, and they're sterile so the success rates are a bit higher than with a bag of soil on it's own.

What I can't figure out is the advantage of the Aerogarden in this instance. I had one a long time ago and dumped it. Unless they've significantly improved, it was noisy, expensive to buy and operate (with consumables like these) and the yield wasn't the greatest.

I was trying to think of why that image was bothering me. Yes, that's it. Now I'm thinking of those disgusting frogs...

I guess the advantage is that this ensures that there's enough nutrition, water, and warmth for the seeds to germinate? But generally seeds have just enough nutrition in them to sprout and grow for a while, so yeah...maybe it's just a way to sell more of those conical peat things.
