I just got 40lbs of kbb for $18 at Sam's. Is this supposed to be better? Fwiw - briquettes go in the wsm and I go lump on short cooks/grilling

Do these burn longer? looking for alternative to the original Kingsford charcoal since it burns too quick

I've pretty much always use this brand. I don't know if it burns longer but I do get multiple uses out of it. Usually only burns down about halfway after I cook hamburgers or steaks. So then I can take what's left, toss it in the starter chimney. Top it off with more

I use Kingsford professional charcoal and this Cowboy brand and I prefer the Cowboy charcoal. Cowboy burns a little longer but the taste you get is much better than Kingsford IMO. Grilled chicken thighs and Salmon is so good. I'll use Kingsford for burgers and hotdogs.

Yes. This is a no filler briquette and should make less ash.

Lump is awesome in the WSM, btw. Briquettes are nice for the very longest cooks because they pack easier. But my use pattern is pretty much the opposite of yours.

Same.

I bought some of this over a month ago because I was not impressed with Kingsford in the wsm. No smoke flavor whatsoever. This is SOOOOO much better for short cooks.

For longer cooks I might use briquettes in my chimney, but it is poured into lump in the smoker. Seems like it had worked fine for me doing this way so far.

Maybe a little. Does seem to burn much hotter from what I have noticed.

Get your Slamon as Sockeye, and burgers and hot dogs from the Amish. Your gov't is trying to poison you with prices and their 'food'. You vill eat ze 🐛

You are getting the coals way too hot. Use inductive heating. Your welcome

This is actually good? I've only used Cowboy lump a few times, and will never touch it again. Each bag was mainly tiny bits with a lot of dust, and a few rocks. It also smelled pretty terrible. But maybe the briquettes are worth a shot? I mainly use pellets these days, and sometimes Royal Oak lump.
