I mostly consume media via computer but love a good deal. After lots of research, I concluded that I'd be better off saving money and ordering an Apple Dongle as my headphone DAC/AMP. The highest-impedance headphones I have are HD598SEs at 50 ohms, and they are 112d dB sensitivity. As this guy points out, the quality of the transducer (earphone, headphone, or speaker) matters way more than the DAC/AMP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3moaaOpYZM I also found this reddit post to be particularly useful: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphon...pressions/

Even if I used my TV and wanted to use headphones instead of speakers for some reason, I'd just use Bluetooth headphones (very convenient for going to the fridge while listening to a more-boring part of a movie), or plug my headphones into my receiver (which has a decent built-in headphone amp).

I hope I saved someone $52 plus tax, plus the cost of buying a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable, plus the space and electrical cost of adding an unnecessary headphone amp! Just the the $9 Apple Dongle instead, if it meets your needs. It performs just as well for anything up to CD-level audio quality, which is the highest audio quality most people play, anyway.

True, and if I had money to burn, I'd buy this anyway. But I racked up quite the credit card bills this winter already!

I ordered several days ago on eBay and it now was cancelled saying they are out of stock. Got canceled from Target too.

They cancelled my M1570C, too. Very sad. :-(
