Gamespot is selling Microsoft Office Pro 2021 for Windows: Lifetime License for either PC or Mac at $39.99. The promotional email indicated that this is a 24 hour promotion, and I received the email today (Mar 20) at noon.

Last year I purchased this MS Office from Gamespot. When you purchase it, they provide the access code for installation. You download the program from Microsoft. My wife installed this MS Office on a Mac for my wife and has had no problem since then.

This is StackSocial, same as all the other grey market posts. they are abused Microsoft volume license keys being pushed by fraudulent resellers. might work for a while, but you are really just paying to pirate

It's just a GameSpot skin on the stacksocial site.

Total ripoff. I have never paid more than $4 for these pirated keys. Many sites have them for $9 right now. Exact same thing. Search gooogle shopping.

When I last did an investigation on these posted deals, all the original source sellers traced back to "NerdUsed" (and their many various names and sites), with a PO Box in the U.K., and replacement key support done through a Telegram account that the resellers use. BBB and other "trust" review sites have reported for NerdUsed's direct sale sites (various names) that they are likely located outside of the U.K. as responses are in very choppy English. They likely use a U.K. mail box to appear more legitimate. Since "NerdUsed" hasn't been seen on StackSocial lately, there's an 80%+ chance that "Definitive Labs" is another one of their names.

BACKGROUND

The NerdUsed global install-code finder: They function through many marketplace sites (GameSpot, PC World, StackSocial, FastKeys, SoftKeyWorld, Click2Save, AppleInsider, TMZ, ZDNet, MacWorldShop, AndroidAuthority, etc.). Those sites are not endorsements. They are just financial transaction hubs similar to eBay.

NerdUsed is finding install keys through any means possible (MSDN user development license banks, corporate, government, or educational codes, etc.). The deals are limited-time deals and they move on to another marketplace site for a different promo. Often, the deals suddenly end when Microsoft determines complementary for-development codes origining from a legal MSDN account user are exhaused or misused.

More recently, NerdUsed is selling codes through the financial marketplace hubs of 'credible' newspaper and TV news media sites. Their mailbox is in the U.K. but there is no actual office there. From their actual sites that they directly sell through, we know that English is not their language (using translators), so it's almost certain that they're operating out of a non-English speaking country. They likely do not reside in the U.K. Complaints and re-issuing of declined codes is mostly done through their Telegram account for legal and privacy purposes.

The 39 'reviews' are totally fake. Notice they are all very English first and last American and British names - again to appear more legitimate. No bad reviews, yet we know they exist from the many discussion boards complaining of needing replacement codes, not getting responses, etc. It's pretty sick that they be allowed to promote "Regular $349.00" and "lifetime license" - and your recourse if/when your code is diabled? Go to the seller? Go to the reseller? Go to Microsoft? Not.

There is no difference between a $30, $40, $10 or $2 install code from NerdUsed and other gray-market code finders/creators. They are all the same. It's interesting how people feel it's more "authentic" when they pay more money for one. (A used bike seller appears more legitimate when they sell a bike for $100, compared to someone who sells one at $20.) Therefore this is not a "good deal" compared to other gray-market licenses - and this is definitely NOT equivalent to a $300-$600 Microsoft (or other) software license purchased from almost any U.S. store (except Craigslist and marketplace hubs).

Regarding your financial and personal privacy, you're better off purchasing by cash or from a site that does NOT remit your personal contact (or credit card) details to NerdUsed (or any other install code finder/creator). There were a couple of reports from buyers having credit card numbers compromised 1-2 months later, which they associated with their install code purchase; however they purchased from one of NerdUsed's direct-sell sites.

"It installed" does not equal "it's legitimate and for life" when purchasing this way.
