By that logic, Isn't locking your door at all a double edge sword?
I use these to repair doors after they've been kicked in (usually by tenants boyfriends). Maybe I should preemptively install them on the rest of my rentals' doors.
Firefighters have battering ram and jaws of life. Even my suggestion isn't going to stop a firefighter from being able to get in. I've seen them use the battering ram on the hinge side with little trouble for when they've run in to situations where the door had a diagonal brace wedged under the knob like this one

My suggestion was for kick-ins. Usually burglars or home invaders don't bring breaching tools with them except maybe a pry bar. My suggested product will slow down a pry bar, specifically with someone who doesn't fully understand a door's construction, or how to effectively use a pry bar...

...which would be most burglars or home invaders. If they had such skills or knowledge, they probably wouldn't be breaking in to homes for a living.

I'm just picturing the local SWAT team approaching their supervisor.

"Sorry boss, looks we can't make the arrest today...he's got the Door Armor"

Swat will use a breaching shotgun, one blast at each hinge, one at the door knob, door done.

Yeah because a gun license is effective when you leave your house unattended 😂🤣

Firefighters have all kinds of breaching tools...just do a simple google search or look up some of the following tools:
  • Fire Fighter Pick Head Axe
  • Halligan Forcible Entry Bar
  • Thebadaxx
  • W-TOOL by Weddle Tool Company - 6000 Pound Hydraulic Door Spreader
  • PIG Forcible Entry Tool
  • Fire Hooks Unlimited Black Maxx
  • HURST Jaws of Life
  • Husqvarna K770 Fire / Forcible Entry Saw
There isn't too much they can't get through, they can chop through a wall if they need/want to even if you don't have any accessible doors and windows. They can cut through metal, or bend it. The criminal looking for a quick hit isn't going to be packing these expensive tools. Very unlikely anyway, if they are that prepared they wouldn't waste time with residential burglary.

Security products like these aren't perfect either, what you want is something that might buy you some extra time to either secure your family, make an exit or retreat, or to get into a defensive position. I did like the guy that suggested the jamb reinforcement products, he's totally right. Just go review door kicking videos and you'll see how easy it is to kick a door in.

Why is everyone arguing over a $5 items?

Nobody who is spending $5 is assuming to be fully "defended" against an entire government 😂

Unless you have a very well engineered break-in deterrent system, if someone is determined to break into your house they will. Period.

know of situations where people have had their siding ripped off and a hole punched through the drywall to prevent alarm systems from triggering and very specific items were taken. They were targeted, not randomly hit.

The thing is, you want to make things more difficult and time-consuming than burglars are willing to put up with. Unless you're in a rural area, np burglars are going to take 10-15 minutes and break out power tools to get into your house if they don't know what's inside. Most break in and robberies literally happen in under five minutes.
