Thanks for revealing another death toll on the Seagate pile of failures. Seagate is like Duraleaks: there's always people who keep muddying up the waters by brushing off anecdotes while saying all hard drives fail without realizing consistently Seagate builds their own brand-hate base by making crappy drives that consistently fail a lot more than HGST/WD. You don't see people jumping into every HGST thread to share their data loss experiences.

Purchased and installed a pair of these last week. So far, so good - although I will say one of them seems like it may be a bit louder than the other.

I am running two of these in my synology from the last deal and they are VERY noisey.. As soon as i see a killer deal on wd red plus or pro, these are getting swapped.

I have 2 12 TBs in a NAS and a 14TB in a desktop. I can hear them, But I wouldn't describe them as a very noisy.

Louder than the the 5 TBs and 8TB they replaced but not a nuisance to me.

Did you run HD tests after you installed it?

They probably did it when they refurbished it, but make sure they both have the latest firmware update and download SeaTools or Crystal Disk Mark so you can check that AAM or spindown isn't on.

X14 more likely to fail, x18 and x20 is faster also

Are these better than the 7e10 series?

Bought those on Neweeg deal, new, but only 8tb for $115 each. Might return if these are better even being that they are recertified and not new. (Using in PC that's almost always on as storage, if that makesa dofference)

Definitely chiming in that my drives are quite noisy, I was concerned at first. Turns out they are just loud.
