Fast 4TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 under two Bens is the new norm. Almost there, greedy corporations who slowed down this tech for years and years...

How does this compare to the Crucials that keep popping up for sale here?

About the same. Same controller with QLC. This is $20 cheaper than P3 plus 4 tb so better deal.

For those not versed in SSDs, QLC has low write endurance, and this has no dedicated DRAM cache so speed drops in prolonged writes (such as transferring from another device).

SSD got way too complicated for regular consumers. This drive is good for game drive. Not for backups or scratch space for video editing.

What about to be put in an enclosure and used for a 2 TB Lightroom library and some photo editing?

Photos editing is fine but the enclosure would gimp it by a lot unless it's a TB enclosure but those are super expensive right now. Even USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 max out at 20 gbps which is 2,500 MB/s, half of the max speed of this drive.
