i do not. But i was researching them for the very same reason. And from what I hear, there are lots of issues with the electronics (built in subwoofer amp). so i'm staying away from these. too bad, because the price is crazy good.

I owned these from the old BP7002 to the new 9020. The amplifier would die after the warranty and you have to pay around $100 per plate then they would die again due to cheap Chinese transistors.

I'm a very big fan of Definitive Technology but ehhh i don't like these built in powered sub speaker series. Just get a dedicated sub (space allowing)

I have been a DefTech fan for over a decade. Bought a pair of used 400 ProTowers over a decade ago. They still work with amazing sound. I just jumped on these, will give them a try as my fronts, and move the 400s as rears. Four subs should be sufficient, I hope.

I've owned the previous gen, the 8020s for many years now, and they've worked great.

However, I bought this gen, but the 9040s for my parents and each of them, the amplifiers have died twice. Once within the warranty period, and once after. We opted to not pay for the repairs the second time.

They're good speakers if they work. Great for movies.

I've had these for like 5 years. Not sure I ever moved the sub above an 8 or 9. They were unplugged for a while and just driven by a denon x6200w the whole time. No issues so far with the amps.

I have own a set for many years and they are great speakers and they have a lot of power. I used them in my man cave so they had a big work out.

Yep forums are filled with complaints about cheap chinese parts in these. Speakers die pretty fast. Also a little bright and metal sounding.

Crap. They sound like biamped bluetooth speakers with distortion from an overdriven amplifier. Flat, anemic and soulless.

Worse, their R&D division forgot to utilize longevity and reliability as requisite parameters. Their customer service department has been repeatedly dubbed "Deaf-Tec."

I owned a pair of 8060s for over 10 years. Upgraded about 2 years ago to the 9080x. My dad owns these 9020s. All work flawless no amp issues. They all sound fantastic.

Yes amp issues happen but it's completely overblown in my opinion. The main issue is with older models you can't get the parts anymore. The 9000 line will have parts readily available if anything happens.

Def tech is also pretty good with customer service. The built amps also only power the built in sub. The midrange and tweeters all still work if one goes bad. I bought a cheap set of 8080s of FB marketplace with one bad amp and ran them awhile and they still sounded fantastic with just the one sub. Called def tech to check on a replacement amp. Since they werent available they offered me 50% off the 9080s if I mailed them the amps so I took that deal. Thats how I have the 9080x now. Ran those old FB marketplace 8080s as side speakers awhile with no subs and eventually sold them.

I have no complaints about the speakers. Smaller versions won't be as room filling but for a small to medium size room these will sound great and this is a fantastic price. Sound great in my dads room. Tempted to grab a pair for side surrounds.
