Beauty of a watch (I know it's quartz). It's $519 on Amazon.

Also, this is a 45mm case. That's pretty big.

Agreed. I would not buy a quartz movement anymore.

Hamilton says this watch was designed in collaboration with aerobatic pilot Nicolas Ivanoff and uses a specially developed H-41e chrono quartz movement. I have it on the bracelet and it is my biggest watch but seems decent lug-to-lug so it feels fine, square and tall also. The indices are applied and they catch the light very well, some other Hamilton's use this same type. The Chronograph has two extra hands with one counting the seconds and the other marks minutes using the hour markers, so 12 minutes to go around the face once. The first four minutes are specially marked with yellow on the track, this means something in air racing. There is an 120 minute sub-dial that assists tracking, that is confusing to read for me. The total Minutes hand moves a half-step at 30 seconds also, very different. The Worldtimer function uses the two hands with one pointing to the chosen City and the other moves with the hour there. Pushers cycle cities quickly and easily The second picture would show it a 5:10 London Time but it is in Chronograph mode there, so that is exactly 5 minutes total time. You can switch Modes back and forth while the Chronograph is running. Stiff bi-directional countdown bezel catches solidly at 2 1/2 minute intervals. So at 20 then in between that and the 15 sort of. It will stay wherever you leave it at still. It has a real nice sapphire crystal with blueish anti-reflective. Weird that it feels flat on top but distorts evenly when turned away like domed underneath, or something. I would want to pay this much with the bracelet, but it is a nice and unique watch.

I am new to the analog watches. My initial budget was about 300 but now learning more and more about movements and brands, perhaps I'd rather spend in something more expensive. Again, my budget would probably be considered in cheap/mid tier, < 800 USD for now.

I am looking to buy something similar... hamilton xwind auto going for 765 on jomashop. I really love how it looks in pictures. Is that something worth the money if you think this is not a good purchase?

I randomly saw this comment from a month ago. Did you make a decision and buy a watch yet? I am new to watches as well. Thanks! Smilie

After my comment, I started doing some research on watches and I don't think I would be buying a quartz watch at that price point like others had mentioned. I started looking at auctions in e-bay and you can have chances of getting used (like new/very good) ~1k worth of good watches for 300-400.

I loved the design of x-wind but later on found about all the unnecessary features that even who it's designed for do not use. I ended up grabbing a (used - very good) hamilton aviation automatic day/date for 350 bucks in an auction, I'm yet to receive it. I lost an auction on hamilton navy regatta before that, which looked really nice but it was a very rare watch to come by. Watches come down to personal preference and learning a little more about the types/sizes/movement/crystal in watches would definitely be helpful if you are new. Good luck on your hunt!

I totally agree! Thanks for sharing about your watch journey. I can absolutely relate to a lot of things you said! All the best to you! Smilie
