Apparently, but only if the firmware is flashed ASAP. It can't undo any damage that's already been caused.

I would assume Samsung now ships all 990 PRO 2 TB models with the fixed firmware, but I will be triple-checking.

Now that is the data writing bug. There was another bug discovered with Samsung Magician, and that is now rolling out in the past two weeks. I assume this hasn't hit all the retailers, but ideally Samsung itself should have the latest firmware on its in-store units!

NVMe SSD-990 PRO Firmware
ISO 3B2QJXD7 | 33.6MBDOWNLOAD
*To improve the abnormalities regarding drive locked on Magician software.

Thanks. I heard that you can't install the firmware extremely, which can be a hassle

Maybe they meant externally, like putting the SSD inside a USB or an enclosure and connecting it to a laptop?

It must be installed like a secondary drive first or install the OS first and then update.

I think?

Yes, sorry about the typo...dislike auto-correct. I read somewhere that it has to be installed on board for any firmware update

Finally got this installed.

Luckily, it shipped with the fixed firmware: 1B2QJXD7.

There is another update pending, which I'll do before I migrate, but glad to see these drives actually shipped & sold with the fixed firmware.
