The 12700k power draw and temps are fine. Just do your own research to look at benchmarks. It's a reasonably good bargain for those not in pursuit of the newest model. It's widely recognized that in idle periods, Ryzen tends to consume more power than Intel. It should be noted that users are typically not operating at high power consumption for the majority of their usage time.

different perspective: finally a worthy opponent for userbenchmark 😏
Nice. I have not kept up lately but is this an awesome setup?
Currently, intel is on 13th gen. Although this is last gen intel, it is still a great performer that will handle almost everything you throw at it. The price for this combo is really good considering that was around how much the board alone was at the time so the processors is pretty much free if you look at it that way. The board also supports ddr5 and has most of the latest bells and wistles. Prices have been dropping considerably from when it was first released. You can also upgrade to 13th gen intel eventually with a bios update.

Raptor Lake Refesh in September which will work on current motherboards could be called 14th gen nobody knows yet.

When's the last time Intel had a chipset support 3 gens? I'll feel slightly less bad for spending $300 on my z690 board if it's supported longer.

If most people will get a dedicated graphics card, is the integrated really necessary? Does it only kick in if the graphics card fails?

Edit: Need a cooler for the CPU, any recommendations?
