Vapor Pro 2 is better in every way except design. Slimmer and faster on the court and I paid $70 for mine. If you are paying around this time, just get the 9.5's. Best Nike tennis shoe as of late.
Unless you are: 1. A Nike fanatic, 2. Have to match brands, 3. Have to have whatever Rafa wears, or 4. These shoes are just PERFECT for you, $95 is expensive. If you keep your eye out for sales/clearance, good quality shoes can be had for $50-80. Just don't start furiously shopping when your shoes are already bald.
I will admit, people are willing to pay much more for Nikes, but even with "Nike premium" $95 is not that good of a deal to be on FP.
I have seen $95ish price a few times during thankgiving and Xmas from online tennis shops. My wife has a pair and she says it's the most confortable tennis shoes she ever worn. I know nike makes shoes with nice cushion and I've been a big fan of Zoom but the I would not buy it unless it drops to under $70 or $60 bc I know the shoes will only last for 2~3 month even I just play once or twice a week. The outsole pattern is bad and it wears like an eraser.
I'm a 4.5 rated tennis player and have been wearing the Vapor line for over 15 years.
Nike started making this shoe very cheap and it has become bulky since the Vapor X. Like others have said, it's not worth it at this price point and all you need to do is look up reviews for this model.
The Vapor 9.5 was the last version that intermediate and advanced tennis players all cherished. Nike even re-released them last year.
If you really like the shoe though… Hey, no one can tell you otherwise.
Nikes are too narrow for me.
I used to get good discount for ASICS but not anymore. What do you guys recommend for comfy, wide toe box, and durable for about 9 months. I'm about 4.0 play 1-2x/wk
