I had one of these (paid a few $ more) that I got for short hikes. The fabric doesn't breathe at all. Sweat would condense on the arms and it would be wetter on the inside than on the outside. It's OK for casual use, I suppose (I donated it).
You don't need pit zips w/ Omni-Tech, or Gore-Tex, but the waterproofing tends to not work as well after a couple years.
Agreed. My best rain jacket is a US Polo all-weather windbreaker bought at Sears many years ago. Bone dry and breaths, but I don't think it was ticketed as waterproof. A fluke, so I always keep it. And my best bone dry waterproof walking shoes are Vasque that also are old as the hills and were not advertised as waterproof. It is hard to recommend any Omni-Gore-Hi-Tech jackets made today when comparing them to what shines from the past.

wrong because gore-tex doesn't really work. You need positive pressure inside the clothing to force the steam out. Technically it is breathable but you need a way to push the hot air inside to the outside.
