I have this unit and while it's not the most awesome tool ever, I am able to de-pill sweaters with it reliably, but beware, you have to work really slowly. $10 is actually a good price for it, I paid full price and kinda feels like too much.
My grandma had one of these when I was a kid. I loved shaving all her afghans (a knitted blanket for those that don't know). One day I decided to shave my tongue, don't know why. Shaved off a bunch of taste buds.

Yeah, wasn't the brightest kid. 10/10, these work!
I wouldn't recommend battery-powered fabric shavers. They seem weak and batteries don't last very long. Get a wired one if you really don't need a battery one.

This is actually the best one of these I've ever used. Works great.

I bought one of these years ago for our sofa sectional and it works great. I occasionally also use it for de-pilling sweaters or socks and works just fine for those as well. I 100% recommend.

I bought this year's ago, and it's still going strong. I've used it on clothes and furniture. Agree you have to go slow, but it's worked great and is reliable.

Remember using one as a kid. I think a razor would work better for furniture.

Works decent depending on the fabric, but like others have said or implied, be careful. Make sure your fabric is completely flat - I've nicked some clothing before when it was slightly sticking up and the cutter got it. Quite a bummer when it happens, but it's still a great little gadget to give your clothes a refresh.

What about cleaning the device post removal of lint and pills? How easy it is to clean and how frequently does the blades have to be replaced or sharpened? No one seems to be talking about it…

Amazon Basics has a copycat model for $13 that comes with two extra blades.

It looks like the front just pops off for cleaning and replacing. The lint drops into that front section below the blade.

As far as how sharp the blade stays, that would likely depend on the fabric you use this with.

Replacement blades run around $3 each, so you probably don't want to waste time sharpening them. Besides, any little bur that gets added to the blade could catch fabric and ruin your material.

What would be ideal, though, is if they had one that took double edge razor blades.

I've only ever had battery powered ones, and they've always done the job pretty well. Do the wired ones just go even faster?
