These are actually a good deal for 2 reasons. First these are cheaper than even walmart, the previous cheapest seller of these "stakes". Second, these things are actually big nails, which means they actually work in hard ground. These are the only "stakes" I know of that will pound into hard ground with a lot of decomposed granite. Even the three sided aluminum ones get wrecked before they get pounded in. These will pound in, just hit it hard enough, even if the tip does get rounded because it's going into decomposed granite, it will still go in and do it's job. Not the lightest and definitely for car camping, but the most dependable tent "stakes" I know of.

Easy to pull up, just pull on the plastic hook on it. If it is hard, just wiggle it back and forth a couple of times, or hit it on the side, then it comes right up. This method won't work if it is pounded into wood, but the ground, even rocky ground, it is easy to wiggle and pull up. This is also why the load pull must be close to perpendicular to the axis of the nail and NOT along the axis. Comes with directions with a graphic so it all makes sense.

Yeah, that will work fine in most situations. But maybe on really rocky ground the rubber mallet will take damage. The nail really is a nail and is made of steel, it will take chunks off of the mallet if enough force is used. When I pounded this "stake" into really hard ground with a lot of decomposed granite and it's head was rounded but it still went in...... I used an actual steel hammer. Just as a suggestion.... this "stake" works great except in sand or really soft ground. For that I also have a set of stakes that are the wide, yellow plastic kind, also from walmart. Right tool for the job right ?

Seems like a good enough deal to do some tree branch pulling/shaping?
