It's not necessarily an apples-to-apples comparison, but Milwaukee's brand new M12 jigsaw [homedepot.com] is $169 right now with a 2.5AH battery...

1in stroke at 3500spm means a lot to cutting speed. If you don't know why this saw cost more then you do not need it.
Ostensibly ~25% faster cuts based on 3500 vs 3000 spm, and 1" vs 7/8" stroke... that is not going to be worth the added cost for most folks... jigsaws aren't typically a primary tool in anyone's repertoire.
Lol. Save Makita for the actual carpenters and cabinet makers. Joe Blow handyman can get by with his M12 and other addictions.
Been on enough job sites to see decades old Makita tools still being used and abused. Meanwhile black and red feel compelled to upgrade to the latest marketing gimmick every other year.
Makita isn't festool but they make their own tools and make them well.

People seem to be downvoting thinking I'm trashing Makita, but that wasn't the intention. I own a number of Makita tools and it's one of my preferred brands.. but this one's hard to justify without a specific need for slightly faster cutting - that is all.

The festool guys buy Bosch jigsaws 🤷

Even thought I'm a Milwaukee fan and own 90% Milwaukee tools. I own several Makita and even Dewalt because some tools, competitors has a better versions. You're an idiot for arguing against obvious facts.
