If you have a decent cooler, the 12600KF is $155 on Amazon and NewEgg. The two look like they are the same processor, with a little slower speeds on 13400F.

- 12600KF is faster by 300MHz, across all zones, has same cores and cache, uses a bit more power, and is overclockable... but no free cooler.

- 13400F comes with a cooler and would be a great processor for 99% of people.

- JUST REMEMBER THAT THESE CPUS (ENDING WITH "F") DON'T HAVE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS, SO YOU'LL NEED A GRAPHICS CARD.

Is there a decent boost over the 12400F, worth it over a 12400F at $127? Would either be sufficient for reaching 60FPS for the next few years? Looking to pair with a higher tier GPU for a gaming HTPC to hit 4K60.

The 12400F is going to be roughly 15%-20% less in overall performance. But for gaming it's not a massive gain at 4K as the gpu works harder in higher resolutions. Being that it's going into probably a small form factor htpc. The power consumption and heat plays in here as non k cpus tend to run cooler.

But I would still recommend getting the 12600kf and getting a beefy low profile cooler. As the cpu boosts higher and won't bottleneck the gpu.

Here is a build that work well for what you are looking for.
