So this can be made a bit slicker if CB from Edge stacks with money back from other sites.
10% on one site and then using Edge browser puts another 6%. I have heard, on Reddit, that people ordered from LG using Edge and that the money back tracked from Edge as well as their own site of choice.
If it does indeed stack it's 16% back on $660 making it about $555. That is cheaper than the the off-brand OLEDs from KTC that still use LG panels, on Amazon. Lowest I saw, with coupons, on the KTC OLEDs was about $560?
You can get this for $412-477 on open box at best buy.
I just got one for $412, which is the lowest.
Hoping it works and isn't beat up AND comes with power cable. I know bestbuy does sell at fair quality without accessories and cables sometimes. So we will see the condition when I go pick it up today.
If it looks good, runs good and comes with power cable then this is a steal price.
After cash back price comes to $418 total w/tax in California.
-$582 from $1000 retail price.
note that this model is often returned because of the low brightness/nits, matte coating instead of glossy coating. both issues shouldn't really be a problem, but reviews often say the matte coating lowers the visual quality of oled. I will have to judge it myself and see, I can't confirm nor deny this issue with matte coating on oled. The brightness may be an issue at 200 nits for spaces with a lot of sun or bright lights. My gaming room is dim so it shouldn't be too noticeable for me. I'm curious if I'll notice the matte finish as a problem, we will see.
comes with adaptive sync and is rated as one of the fastest response times for monitors, which is why I also got it. AMD or Nvidia gpu can be used with it so should be ultra smooth with that oled responsiveness.
They did make a newer model of this "GR" model to "GS" model.. with the only difference being 75 more nits of brightness. You'll be paying $200 more for retail sale price or $300 more if open box price for only 75 nits brighter lol.
You will need a high end gpu to get 240hz at 1440p, but you can also get this to futureproof your monitor and upgrade gpu later.
I have a 4090 and some research suggests that it's going to be bottlenecked at resolutions below 4k. I will also have to test this and see if that's gonna be a problem. it would be ridiculous if high end GPU's bottleneck 1440p, otherwise why would they make such high fps monitors!!??
I would assume a 4070, 4070 Ti, 4070 Ti Super, 4080, 4080 Super, 7800XT, 7800GRE, 7900 XT should be able to run this well. If the 4090 does indeed bottleneck at 1440p, that would assume the 7900XTX will bottleneck as well. But like I said it will have to be tested and I can't confirm or deny that.
Another thing about hitting the 240hz is highly dependent on the tasks. FPS games will be no problem.. AAA games may need a high end gpu to stabilize at those frames. MMO's will depend on your CPU more than Gpu. it's an entirely different topic and testing needs to be done. Desktop tasks will be no problem, like browsing and entertainment, you could even have a low end gpu if that was all you did. You could definitely just get OLED for its superior color experience and perfect blacks.
Try to do your own research on your usage tasks and your own hardware. All in all OLED is still the best for pure blacks and responsiveness. You will have to take Burn-In precautions but a lot of people don't and still have no issues. The only ones that seem to have burn-in issues are the people who use their OLEDs for static display. Should be fine if you mix up your tasks and hide the task bar.

It looks like that cashback site is offering 15% back on LG from May 6th-13th. Stacking that with Edge 6% cashback brings the price to roughly $522. Pretty great price for OLED.

I just have to verify that the cash back does indeed stack. Some rando on Reddit says it does. They posted screenshots of it registering on both sites. However, payout could be a whole different deal if they audit the tracking.

I went through all the trouble of writing that research and didn't even try it.
My open box was missing the remote control. I learned that LG requires you to have the remote control to access a few settings.
This monitor has an app that you can use to adjust settings... BUT you need the remote to see all the settings.
I ended up declining the monitor since I didn't want to order the remote and I'm not paying more than $400 for a monitor lol.
